About

Basement Lifts is a small, independent site about equipping a home gym in a space that was never designed for one. It is written and run from a basement in the Minneapolis area with a ceiling that tops out around seven feet.

Why this site exists

Most home gym content is written for garages in warm states with ten-foot ceilings and a budget to match. Most “best power rack” lists are assembled from Amazon listings by people who have never bolted one together. We wanted the opposite: a site that assumes your space is small and awkward, measures everything, and shows you the price at every retailer rather than just the one that pays the best commission.

Who runs it

JJ Jean-Simon. By day I run an IT and automation company; by night I lift in a basement and build the tooling that keeps this site’s prices current. I am not a coach or a physical therapist and nothing here is training or medical advice. I am a careful buyer who takes notes.

How we make money

Affiliate commissions from retailers and brands when you buy through our links, and nothing else for now: no sponsored posts, no paid placements, no selling your email address. Every page with affiliate links says so at the top. The complete version is on the affiliate disclosure page.
